Pause The Moment is soon to be featured in the Bridgewater Independent Newspaper!
As the logistics of this are still being worked out, The Bridgewater Independent is currently planning on running a story on Pause The Moment a week or so before I depart to Europe. This is tremendous news for PTM! Not only will this increase exposure for the site but it will also provide as an avenue for myself to reach out to the community with all sorts of useful Travel Information, Tips, Tricks, Photos, Videos, and more!
I have a meeting scheduled early next week with the Reporter from the Independent to discuss and finalize the plans. I will be sure to keep you updated as this story progresses!
*There’s also a rumor that you might see a weekly column from me…

Are you heading out on a trip abroad and you’re debating on whether to get travel insurance or not? Well, I was in the same boat as you up until a couple of months ago. I tend to do quite a bit of research on products and services before buying. What can I say, I’m a bargain shopper! I’ve learned from the best (my mother).
After searching far and wide across the web, I couldn’t find a travel insurance company that would cover me for 3+ months. All of the companies that I contacted only offered insurance to cover me from when I left the USA, until I arrived back in the USA and even at that they were trying to charge me astronomical prices.
Due to it being such a hassle to find the “right” coverage that suited me best I decided to look into getting travel insurance just to cover my Contiki trip, a 23-day coach tour that I’m taking to multiple countries across Europe. You know, just so I’d be covered in case the trip was canceled for some reason, my flight from Dublin to London was delayed, my baggage was lost, etc. Well, again come to find out no company will cover you for a trip that starts in Europe and ends in Europe. The insurance companies need to know what date you’re leaving the US and what date you will be returning to the US. Basically, for those who are traveling to foreign countries, going on a round the world trip, or just going on an open ended ticket vacation with no set date of return are in big trouble! Or are they?

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock…
So I’m coming up on just about 5 weeks left before I head out! I know I’ve been repeating myself a lot lately, but I’m just so damn excited! It’s a mix of nerves and excitement of course. There are so many things to think about when preparing for a trip of this magnitude. I’ve been running around non-stop buying all of the necessities, making sure I have three copies of everything (documents, passport information, flights, travel insurance, etc). One copy to leave at home, one copy to leave in Dublin (my future home base), and one copy to have on me at all times. My big, ugly, army green suitcase is sitting here next to me wide open just waiting for me to stuff it with as much as I can fit in it without busting the zippers… but thats another story.

This week I’ve been working hard on promoting the site, creating new content, and spreading the word so that I can reach out to as many people as possible while I’m gone. It’s a lot more work than I thought. I think I’ve finally realized that this is going to be quite a project to keep up with while I’m traveling, but it’s going to be so worth it!
*I’d like to say thanks to Mike Richard, the editor over at: Vagabondish.com. Thanks to him, my site is now listed in the “Travel Community” section under the category: Personal Travel Blogs.

Yesterday I spent most of the day with my second cousins Kevin, and Oliver as they were in town for a couple days visiting from Ireland. It was great seeing them, it’s been years! More than years, I haven’t seen Kevin in almost 10 years, and Oliver since 1989 when I attended my cousin Paul’s wedding at the ripe old age of 5. Kevin was here was back in 1999, and he supposedly stayed at my house for a night or two although I don’t remember too much of that. I was about 15 years of age then, and probably could have cared less who was in town, from what ever country. Unfortunately, I must have been too cool to even notice.
Of course we all got to talking about my trip, and they were filling me in on all of the places that they have traveled to in Europe. Especially Kevin who just got back from traveling a bit of Europe not too long ago actually. He couldn’t tell me enough how cheap Eastern Europe is, and I can’t wait to find out first hand! Out of all of the places he’s been, he said that he enjoyed Prague the most, and luckily enough I’ll be spending 2 nights there in May on my Contiki trip, and another 2 or 3 nights there on my InterRail trip in July!
