Finally caught up on some sleep

| April 22nd, 2008 | Ireland, Travel

I awoke this morning after finally getting a good night sleep. I feel like I haven’t slept in days. I’m still trying to adjust to the 5 hour time difference here. I was up until 2:00AM this morning talking to family and friends back home on Skype. I’ve been using Skype for a few years now, but I still find it absolutely amazing that I can be 3,000 miles away and I can talk to my family and friends via my computer and the fact that we can see each other on live video as we’re chatting is just so cool. Thank god for technology!

Today I woke up and had a small Irish breakfast, and some tea of course. Now you might find this hard to believe but I have never drank tea in my entire life up until yesterday. While I was visiting some relatives yesterday I was offered tea or coffee, and I don’t drink either so I politely declined. Well all of a sudden the tea comes out and I felt sort of obligated to drink it as there was a cup poured for me. Needless to say, I’ve had about 5 teas at this point and my aunt is actually making me a cup as we speak.

This morning my uncle and I headed off to visit some relatives that live about 15 minutes away down here in the country. It was great to see my grandmothers brother and wife that I haven’t seen in many, many years. The house that my grandmothers brother lives in is the actual house the my grandmother grew up in, so it was a pretty cool experience. I have been there before, but I was very young at the time, and I don’t remember much. I promised them that I’d get back down to them a little later in the summer and that I’d maybe stay a night in the beautiful house that they built out back. They call this house a “granny flat”. It’s basically a mini house. It has 2 bedrooms, a nice sized bathroom, a small living room, and a nice spacious kitchen.

We left there and headed back to my uncles house and we’re just relaxing for a bit before heading into Galway city to meet up with my cousin Michelle. Michelle and I are heading out with some friends tonight to celebrate a friends birthday. I know the girls from when I met them back in December of 2006, so it should be a great time.
