Trish, I want to thank your stopping by and providing such great feedback. Thanks a bunch.

As for Greece accommodations, my best advice is to get off of the ferry and walk towards all of the apartment/hotel owners that will be waiting for people just like you! This is where you have the advantage! There will be a bunch of people surrounding you showing you brochures of their hotels/apartments and you just need to be very patient. Patience saves money, believe me! Weigh out your options and do not be afraid to haggle with them. They know that if they don't accept your price, the guy next to them WILL!

Not only does this work to your advantage when it comes to carefully selecting where you want to stay tonight but you'll also most likely get a free ride into town to the hotel. All you need to tell them is that you're interested in just "checking out" their place not necessarily staying there. Just say I'd like to take a look at it. You'll be driven there, you decide if it suits you and if not it's no big deal just walk a few feet down the road and there will most likely be something else that will suit your needs. If you go there with this attitude you WILL succeed.

Not totally sure if you've checked this out but if not check this article out that I wrote about How to Travel the Greek Islands on the Cheap! -- http://www.pausethemoment.com/2010/07/11/how-to-visit-the-greek-islands-on-the-cheap/

I am so glad I found your site. We are going to Greece over Easter this year and wanted to leave our options open for accommodation and what to do. Normally I'm a plan-ahead-so-you-don't-worry kind of traveler, but I'm trying to live more in the moment! Your tips on where to stay will give us a good place to start and an idea of what price range we should accept. We'll see where the spirit takes us, but I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated the info you've posted. Your tips are straightforward, and the details are awesomely practical (e.g. scooter rental on Santorini vrs. Milos)
Thanks so much! Trish in Niagara Falls, Canada

Joan, you have no idea how much that means to me. I put so much hard work into this site and the fact that I can whisk you away "virtually" is such a great feeling. Thank YOU for following!
