Yeah I noticed that they also do tours in Israel. Interesting to find that you didn't enjoy it though. Our guide was excellent and funny as well. It made our tour so much more interesting. We weren't offered any other paid tours by any means. Must be the guide that you had.

Walking tours are great! I highly recommend them. Thanks for chipping in.

Sandeman runs free tours in Israel, too. I took the one in Jerusalem but didn't actually enjoy it. They spent most of the tour trying to sell us a different tour. I definitely think it depends on the guide whether or not it's good.

In Spain I did a lot of free walking tours in almost all the major cities but they usually weren't branded with a company like Sandeman. More often than not they were independent ex-pats who just set up their own tour and advertised it among the hostels. I really liked that arrangement and they were usually brutally honest tours.
My recent post <a href="http://travelsofadam.com/2010/07/sleep-is-for-the-weak/" target="_blank">Sleep is for the Weak</a>
