Octopus Garden Resort – Dahab, Egypt

Octopus Garden Resort
The Octopus Garden Resort is one of the best places to stay in Dahab, Egypt. When I was there back in November it was as quiet as can be. To be honest, I think I might have been one of five people staying there at the time.
Location
Octopus Garden Resort is located just one street back from the beach across from Penguin Village (another favorite hotel of mine). The only reason I didn’t stay at Penguin Village on my second visit to Dahab was that Penguin was completely booked when I showed up looking for a room. I had just hopped off of a 9 hour bus ride from Cairo and I wasn’t in the mood to haggle back and forth with anyone so I walked stumbled across the street to Octopus in hopes that I would get a fair and honest price for a room. I’m happy to say that I didn’t just get a fair and honest deal, I got a great one!
Although Octopus is set back one street from the beach, it was really no issue for me. The last time I was in Dahab I spent the entire time walking the boardwalk, eating at Sham’s Restaurant, and I really got to know Dahab as a whole so I wasn’t crazy about needing to be right on the beach.
The Rooms
After strolling past the on-site pool and taking a quick look at the room, I knew it would be a perfect fit. It was quiet and that was exactly what the doctor ordered after coming from Cairo. My room at Octopus was immaculate to say the least. The bed was made, the sheets and blankets were fresh and the bathroom was neatly tiled and tidy.
Problems/Issues
I only experienced two small issues while staying at Octopus…
- Firstly, the wooden chair that went with my desk in the room somehow got a little weak and pretty much fell apart. Looks like the previous guest must have broke it and left it the way it was without telling the staff. After I mentioned the issue with my chair to the staff, I had a brand new one within minutes. The customer service rocked. I was surprised by this because customer service can be very tough to come by in Egypt.
- The second issue I had was that the FREE Wi-Fi signal barely reached my room so it was a little frustrating at times. Other than that, this place was more than I could ask for in any hotel in Egypt.
