Merthayasa Bungalows – Best Place to Stay in Ubud
TweetMerthayasa Bungalows
After stopping into a few unsatisfying places on the way into down town Ubud, we were approached by a man on the sidewalk asking us if we were looking for a place to stay. Hmm, let’s see… We’re tired, sweaty and we’ve got two big backpacks on our backs. Hell yeah, we’re looking for a place to stay!
Location:
The location of Merthayasa Bungalows couldn’t be better. It’s a 2-3 minute walk down to Monkey Forest (beware of the psycho monkeys), and it’s about a 10 minute walk to all of the best restaurants and attractions of Ubud.
Rooms:
The rooms at Merthayasa were incredibly spacious and cozy. The beds were warm, and comfortable. Having the little table and chairs in the room made our stay even better because we were able to enjoy breakfast in the morning right inside of our room. The best feature of the room was the amount of windows and the views over the property. When you opened the shades in the morning the natural light beamed through and lit the entire room up. Add the free breakfast delivery to your room into the mix and we’ve got ourselves a little gem! I can’t rave about this place enough, really.
Like the accommodation recommendation I made for the Kuta/Sanur area (Little Pond Homestay – Best Place to Stay in Bali Review) the last thing I’d want is for this place to become another “Lonely Planet” guesthouse that becomes worn down and exhausted. In saying that, if you decide to stay here please be sure to respect the place!
Amenities:
Swimming Pool, Free Breakfast, Room Service, Transport Service. Wi-Fi not available but can be found at many local restaurants within 2-3 minutes walking distance.
Rates:
- A/C Room w/ Hot Shower: 250,000 IDR/night incl. taxes and service charges (Haggled down to 225,000 IDR/night)
- Breakfast included in room price
Getting There:
If you arrive by minibus from Kuta / Sanur, it’s highly likely that you’ll be dropped at the beginning of Monkey Forest Road. If this is the case do yourself a favor and walk down Monkey Forest Road until you pass the actual Monkey Forest on your left. About a half mile up the road past monkey forest you’ll see Merthayasa Bungalows on your right.
