The Best Sleeping Bag Liners For Travel

Silk Sleep Sack

What is a Travel Sleep Sack?

A travel sleep sack is probably better known as a sleeping bag liner. They come in all sorts of colors, sizes, and even thicknesses. You’ll find that there are a wide variety of materials used when it comes to sleep sacks. Some of these materials include micro-fiber, cotton, silk, and even fleece. Some sleep sacks are specifically designed with extremely lightweight materials that allow your body to breathe and stay cool during the night. Travel Sleeping Bag Liner

Things to Consider Before Purchasing a Sleep Sack

Comfort Level: In my opinion, the main factor you should take into consideration while purchasing a sleeping bag liner is its overall comfort level.

Stay Warm and Cool: A quality sleep sack should be capable of holding your body heat in colder climates yet also keep you cool when sleeping in warmer climates. You definitely don’t want to pick up a fleece sleeping bag liner if you’re headed to warm areas of the globe, trust me.

Don’t Sacrifice Quality: How much do you want to spend on your new sleeping bag liner? Prices range from $25-60 USD. What ever you choose to do, I suggest you don’t skimp out on quality when it comes to travel gear. Remember, when you’re on the road your travel gear is all you’ve got!

The Weight: You’ll need to consider the weight of the sleeping sack that you have your eye on. Again, this all depends on where you’re headed and how much room you have in your pack. If the space in your bag is an issue then I highly recommend you take a few things out and replace it with a sleep sack. I cannot stress how important having one of these is when you’re on the road.

Our Personal Recommendations

Both Liz and I both picked up sleep sacks before we took off on our around the world trip and we’re not quite sure what life on the road would be without them. Check out our personal picks below… Micro Fiber Travel Sleeping Bag Liner

Ryan’s Pick:

When purchasing my sleeping bag liner I decided to go with a lightweight micro-fiber sleep sack and in my opinion it turned out to be the best decision. We spent a lot of our time in warmer climates on our last trip so going light was really beneficial in my opinion. If you’re not into the micro-fiber material then you should check out the Ripstop Silk Sleep Sacks that will surely do the trick when it comes to keeping you warm in cool temps, yet cool enough in warm temperatures. Liz’s Pick:

Liz on the other hand is always cold for whatever reason so she decided to go with a thick fleece sleep sack. and she rarely complained of being hot. If you’re the type of person who is always cold once the sun goes down, then definitely go for the thicker sleep sack like Liz did.

  1. Really like the silk liners, they are light, soft and warm. I tried a fleece liner once but I got way to sweaty!
