No matter how many pictures you see of this place, upon your arrival you’ll still be picking your jaw up from the ground! 3. Taj Mahal – India
This perfect example of Mughal architecture is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and it will take your breath away. It was constructed out of white marble by thousands of craftsmen and artisans from all over the world over a period of 20 years.

4. Alaska
Alaska is blessed with a number of attractions some of which are truly mind blowing. A trip here offers a variation of things that no other place on earth can offer. The highlight of your trip could well be Aurora Borealis over Bear Lake – this is a sight you’ll never forget! If you’re feeling energetic, month-long expeditions to summit Mt. McKinley are also available.
But if you just want to soak up the Alaskan atmosphere be sure to check out the Anchorage Museum, Kenai Fjords National Park, Igloo City and squeeze some time in for an Alaskan Safari where you’re sure to see some wolves, whales, moose, and bears. The three pyramid complex outside Cairo is the only existing ancient wonder of the world. Built around 3000 BCE, these structures are an impressive feat indeed. 7. Great Wall of China – China
Stretching nearly 9,000km across the country, The Great Wall of China is a ‘must-see’ of the highest order. Construction commenced around 200BC but was completed until the mid 17th century! You can visit a section of the Great Wall as an easy day trip from Beijing.

8. The Great Barrier Reef – Australia
The world’s largest coral reef offers some of the word’s best snorkeling and scuba diving. It has made a place for itself in the list of the World Heritage as well as the National Heritage sites and no visit to Australia is complete without a visit to the Great Barrier Reef.

9. The Trans Siberian Railway – Russia, China, Mongolia
While more of an activity than a site, it deserves a spot for the sheer beauty of the journey. All of these destinations can be traveled to independently but by making use of guided tours you can get more bang for your buck, more knowledge about the sights and all of this with much less hassle of winging it on your own.

I hate guided tours for the most part, but I definitely think there are certain things that require them or you truly will miss out on so much!
I went to Antarctica, which can really only be done on a guided excursion but absolutely is amazing and should be #11!

One suggestion if you take a tour of the Taj Mahal. Our guide was a little off on his ‘facts’.
