Our Anniversary Stay at the Inn by the Sea
TweetGreetings from Cape Elizabeth, Maine!
We are loving life right now to say the least! I mean, how could you not love to living a temporary life of luxury? Please excuse us while thoroughly enjoy our stay at Inn by the Sea, Maine’s premier eco-friendly beach resort in Cape Elizabeth, ME.
If you know anything about us, you would know that we’re used to just stumbling upon a room somewhere along the way and as long as it’s clean, we just see it as a place to rest our heads. That whole concept went out the window as soon we were shown to our room at Inn by the Sea.
Liz and I arrived at our temporary home away from home this afternoon around 4:00PM. Upon checking in, we were treated as if we were royalty of sorts. I guess we kind of forgot what it was like to trade in our backpacks and our budget travel mindsets for the first time in a long time. I mean seriously, it’s been a really long time since we spent a night in a hotel where the bellboy delivers your luggage to your room and then proceeds to instruct you on how to turn on the in-room fireplace. Wait, what!?
As soon as we walked through the door of our room we knew we were in for a real treat. Immediately to our left was the bathroom which is about eight times the size my bathroom at home. The neatly tiled, glass enclosed walk in shower could easily fit five people. The dual sinks, the eco-friendly toilet with two types of flushes. Would you like to use 0.9 gallons of water for this flush or 1.6gallons? It’s all comes down to a push of a button. The bright white towels, one dark towel specifically for removing makeup. This is only the beginning…
Once we leave the bathroom and move into where we’ll be spending the next two nights, we were simply in awe. The perfectly made king sized bed was just asking to be pounced on.
As we pulled back the drapes we caught our first glimpse of a view you could just never get sick of. The dark blue, white tipped ocean waves crashed in the distance. Whoa…
Wait, the bellboy is still standing here asking us if we need anything else. Seriously? We almost forgot he was in the room due to the fact that we were walking around like little kids saying things like “Whoa, check this out!” or “Wow, this is so cool!”.
Our dinner reservations at Inn by the Sea’s on-site top rated restaurant, Sea Glass, weren’t until 7PM so we spent some time taking photos, lounging around the room, and scoping out the menu so that we could figure out exactly what we were going to have for dinner.
Once 7PM rolled around, we were more than ready to chow down. Sea Glass is a restaurant located inside Inn by the Sea and faces the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. It was dark by the time we were seated but we could only imagine what it would be like to dine on the outdoor patio during the summer. Yes, please!
After double checking our dinner selections we were treated to a glass of champagne courtesy of our host Rauni (thank you!), as well as some really refreshing ice and sparkling water.
On to dinner, an incredibly tasty one at that. Curious to find out what we ate tonight at Sea Glass? See for yourself below…
When the waiter finally swung back around to our table and asked if we were interested in anything else, Liz muttered “No, thank you. we’re currently in a food coma”. She wasn’t lying!
Tomorrow we’re planning on waking up and heading into downtown Portland where we will stroll around aimlessly, do a little shopping (window shopping) and see what Portland has to offer. If you have any suggestions for us, please feel free to leave a comment below.
Oh yeah and who said treating yourself to a little luxury every now and then isn’t good for your health and overall well being?

If there is one thing I love it’s great hotels, and this has me supremely jealous. Enjoy!
