Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Where will you be visiting on your Around the World Trip?

A: We don’t have a set itinerary, but we DO have a list of select places that we want to visit along the way. For more information on our “must-see” list be sure to check out “Our Unplanned Route Around The World”

Q:  How long do you plan to be gone for?

A: Well considering we’re planning on traveling “itinerary-less”, we’re really not too sure how long we’ll be gone. Could be 3 months, could be 6 months, could be a year. Who knows!?

Q:  How are you going to fit everything that you need into one backpack!?

A: (Ryan) It will be easier for me this time around as I’ve definitely learned from the mistakes that I made while traveling Europe (overpacking). (Liz) I have absolutely NO IDEA! — Click HERE to see our official packing lists!

Q:  Where in the world have you been so far?

A:  (Ryan) Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Vatican city.

A:  (Liz) Croatia, Ireland, Montenegro, Spain

Q:  How much do you plan to spend on a trip like this?

A: Well, it’s hard to tell since we have no real set date of return. Also, the total cost really depends on how you travel, where you go, how much you splurge on activities, etc. Generally speaking, you can travel around the world for 1 year on about $15-20k.  This figure is based on a per person basis and includes all flights, accommodations, food, activities, and everything else in between.

Q:  What type of accommodations will you be staying in?

A: Hostels, Guesthouses, Bungalows, Couches, Overnight Buses & Sleeper Trains, and maybe even a 2 or 3 star hotel if we really feel like splurging at some point along the way! We’ll most likely try to get a private room when staying in hostels to avoid staying in the open dormitory areas. We’re also open to renting apartments if we decide that we want to spend a month or two in a certain place along the way.

Q:  Do either of you speak any languages?

A: Nope, only English although we plan to learn common words and phrases along the way that will get us by and at the same time make us feel a little more comfortable with our surroundings.

Q:  Which one of you will be sharing your stories from the road?

A: (Ryan) I’ll probably be doing most of the writing on the road. I’ve been trying to talk Liz into doing some writing along the way, but she’s not too excited about the idea. We’ll see what happens, you just may see a “guest post” from Liz somewhere down the line.

Q: Will you guys be posting any of your updates, photos, videos, etc on Facebook?

A: Absolutely! Be sure to check out our Pause The Moment Fan Page on Facebook. And while you’re at it… become a Fan!
