Amazink Live: An Incredible Dining and Entertainment Experience

Amazink Live - Stellenbosch South Africa

Amazink Live

All I can say is WOW! I’m not even sure how to approach writing about my recent dining and entertainment experience at Amazink Live.

Amazink Live - South Africa

Let me start off by saying that when you arrive at Amazink Live, you’ll instantly be confused by it’s location. You see, Amazink Live is located right in the middle of a fairly poor area (Kayamandi) in the Stellenbosch township. In saying that, there is no reason to worry about your safety by any means. I’m just stating the facts now before you get there and wonder why in the heck you listened to my recommendation as you pull into the parking lot.

Do yourself a favor and enter the amazing Amazink Live!

As soon as you get yourself seated, you’re met with the starters; warm samosas, frikkadel, lucky star pilchard and pasta salad, cabbage salad and more.

The nice part about the dining experience at Amazink is you don’t have to order anything as it’s a set menu each night. You walk in, sit down and get served a scrumptious meal matched with wine, beer and other refreshments.

After the starters, the mains are quickly served straight out of the kitchen.

The setting is a fairly dark little space filled with eight large tables and chairs which are strategically placed for the knock your socks off performance that literally starts out of the blue.

Brace yourself for when your waitstaff quickly turn into the entertainers! They’re not only great at taking care of their customers on the food and drink end but they’re also incredibly talented vocalists and dancers.

The Amazink crew sings and dances their way through a story of a South African township shebeen (drinking establishment) experiencing tough economic times and facing closure. The visually animated characters are on a mission to save their beloved establishment and all the while the 11-person cast belt out songs like Pata Pata, The Click Song, Meadowlands, The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Mamma Tembu’s Wedding.

By the end of the show, you will be completely awestruck by the performance. It’s hard to imagine that there is that much talent in one room.

If you’re in Cape Town and you’re looking for an authentic South African experience, make your way over to Amazink Live. You won’t regret it! If you do decide to go, please be sure to report back to me by leaving a comment below. Oh, and while you’re at it, say Hi to Ramaine a.k.a “Miss Patricia” (the lead character) for me. Be sure to tell her you heard about Amazink Live right here on Pause The Moment!

Note: All of the super talented Amazink Live entertainers come from Kayamandi which is located inside of the Stellenbosch township. The crew are trained by Ramaine and Richard from The Barnyard Theatre.

  1. Interesting to see that the same people who serve you first, dance and sing then. I think I’ve never seen this!
