The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club

The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club

The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club is a 3.5 star retro-style hotel conveniently located between 17th & 18th on Collins Avenue.

The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club

While you’re not likely to find too much peace and quiet  at the Catalina, you will have the opportunity to catch up on a few hours of much needed sleep after exploring all that Miami has to offer.

Is it the most relaxing hotel that we’ve been to? Of course not, but we’re in Miami baby!

The Catalina Hotel is a beautifully decorated retro-style boutique hotel that offers everything from on-site restaurants, free bicycle rentals, a roof top pool with bumping music and more.

Check-In

We arrived at the hotel around 2PM and check-in went flawlessly. The front desk staff at the Catalina were really polite and courteous. Once we had our room keys in hand we walked outside of the hotel and over to our building (The Dorset).

B-Room

The B-Room is the Catalina’s “Business” style room. The Catalina says the B for “Business”, not “Boring” and they couldn’t be more accurate with that statement. The room was decorated just the way I like it. Modern, yet comfortable.

The “B-Room” at the Catalina Hotel

I’m a big fan of modern design so I have to admit that the style of our room at the Catalina is one of the best decorated hotel rooms I’ve stayed in to date.

The room was outfitted with an extremely comfortable king sized Tempur-Pedic mattress, a large plasma TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, a computer desk (very handy), daily newspaper delivery and more.

The B-Room was very clean and the housekeepers made sure it stayed that way. Every day we arrived back to our hotel to our room as if we were just checking in for the first time.

Pool

The Catalina Hotel has two rooftop pools, here’s a look at the pool on the roof of our building (Dorset).

Just one floor up on the elevator and we’re at the rooftop pool here at the Catalina Hotel. The pool was slightly smaller than I had expected but who really needs an Olympic sized pool anyways? My friend David and I spent a couple of hours up here one day and we had a great time.

Conclusion:

Although we don’t really party much these days, we really enjoyed our stay at the Catalina. There were a couple of nights where there was a lot of noise in the halls but we couldn’t really complain. We always tried to remind ourselves that we we’re in a very party oriented, touristy city and we were staying in a boutique hotel in Miami, not a 5-star luxury resort in South Africa.

In saying that, we would definitely stay at the Catalina Hotel again. It had us reminiscing about some of the hotels that we’ve stayed in in Las Vegas. While we wouldn’t recommend this hotel for families, we would recommend it to those who want to take full advantage of the “South Beach scene” at an affordable price.

If you’re interested in being in the “middle of it all” at a reasonable price, the Catalina Hotel & Beach Club is for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking for peace and quiet during your stay in Miami, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
