Embassy Suites - San Diego

EMBASSY SUITES DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO

The Embassy Suites San Diego is a beautifully decorated, all-suite hotel located ten minutes from San Diego International Airport, a short walk from the stunning bay of San Diego and conveniently located next to the Seaport Village trolley stop.

COMMON DINING AREA

The common dining area shown above is where the daily breakfast buffet is held. The buffet has just about everything you can imagine from eggs to pancakes, french toast, bagels, bacon, fresh fruit, made to order omelets and more.

KING SUITE

As I said in the intro, every room at the Embassy Suites is in fact a suite. Each suite is two rooms, a living/work space and a bedroom equipped with an incredibly comfortable King sized bed. As you would imagine, the suites at Embassy Suites are very spacious and comfy. It was really nice to stay in a suite versus the typical hotel rooms that I’m used to when I travel.

Each suite comes equipped with amenities such as air conditioning, in room safe, LCD TV with satellite cable, coffee and tea maker, microwave, mini-refridgerator, office desk and chair, a sitting area with a couch and chair.

The only disappointing and mandatory (in my case) amenity that the suite doesn’t come with is free Wi-Fi access. The Embassy Suites charges $11.95 for 24 hours of access which is absolutely outrageous (IMO). Then again, it’s a Hilton property and as far as I know, ALL Hilton’s charge for their Wi-Fi. While, I love the Hilton brand and its properties, this is one of the major cons to staying with them.

LIVING ROOM

One of the nicest features about the suite was the living room area. The furniture was really comfy. I enjoyed a take away dinner or two on that cool little table shown above. It was nice to kick back on the couch, turn on the tv and zone out for a while after a long day in the sun.

OFFICE/WORKSPACE

The office desk/chair setup was a nice perk to having the suite. I spent a few hours kicking back in the chair and getting work done while I was in town. Those who need to get work done during their stay will feel right at home in this suite.

BATHROOM

There’s not too much to say about the bathroom other than it was bright, white and very clean. Everything worked exactly as expected and our room was stocked with fresh new towels each and every day. The only thing that I found weird about the bathroom was that there was a noise that sounded like a running motor coming from under the counter. It wasn’t something that I could hear from the bedroom or anything so it wasn’t a huge deal.

STAFF

The staff at the Embassy Suites couldn’t have been any more helpful and friendly. They recommended places to dine, things to see and instructed me on how to use the trolley to get around town.

LOCATION

The Embassy Suites is just 3 minutes walk to the bay and 5-10 minutes walk from many of the major sights of downtown San Diego. It’s also conveniently located next to the Seaport Village trolley station which makes it easy to hop on/off and explore the city.

CONCLUSION

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the Embassy Suites and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The breakfast was on point, the suite was spacious and comfy and the location really can’t be beat.

With prices floating around $160/night for a two room suite, the Embassy Suites is truly an affordable option in downtown San Diego.
