  1. My husband and I went on an Alaskan cruise with my in-laws. It was truly amazing – and the first cruise we went on. We had a wonderful time!

  2. Growing as a kid most of my memories where from our shore vacations! Sun sand and surf! I grew up on the East coast. As an adult they would have to be on the road headed to FL for vacation to visit my parents. My kids are only 6,7 and 1 so now will be a great time to continue making memories! Thanks for the chance to win an Amazing trip!

  3. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SAN ANTONIO!

  4. My most memorable vacation was going to Europe and getting to see where my parents lived in France while my dad was stationed there with the US Airforce in the early 1960′s. Their landlord still lived in the same house after all those years and remembered them! We spent several hours visiting and got to take an updated picture of my parents leaning out the same second story window of their old apartment. It recreated the photo 30 years later of the one that they had shown us all those years when they talked about their time in France.

  5. My favorite vacation was in the Philippines!

  6. My family took long road trips around the country when I was a kid and I remember absolutely loving the Mississippi River Walk in Memphis.

  7. Most memorable vacation was our family trip to disneyworld two years ago!

  8. When me and my family went to Hawaii. We went to Oahu, Maui, Kona. It was the bomb!

  9. Most memorable vacation would be to Walt Disney World being the first trip to Disney and certainly not the last.

  10. My most memorable family vacation was a 2-week trip to Southern California. Beautiful beaches in San Diego and LA, Sea World, Legoland, and 3 days at Disneyland.

  11. My most memorable was a trip my entire family took in a Winnebago when I was a child…We traveled all over the western U.S. and visited places like The Grand Canyon, Four Corners, and Big Bend Park.

  12. Fairly new at these travel blogs, but this one looks good!

  13. The most memorable vacation would be San Antonio when my family and I all go .This is the one time that we all get to hang and laugh about things and not worry about work just relaxation and haveing fun at the theme parks and downtown!

  14. Honestly the best vacation I have had in a long time was in San Antonio…didn’t have much money so all the money saving offers truly helped….my grandson is stationed at Lackland Air Force Base and besides the excitement of getting to see him……the River Walk was overwhelmingly beautiful…..would love to go back if it were financially feasible….I loved San Antonio

  15. My most memorable vacation was to San Francisco with my husband. We stayed in a 60′s b&b near Haight Ashbury, went to Alcatraz, and saw the many wonders of San Francisco that I’ve been dying to see! It was my first trip to a state I’ve always wanted to visit and a wonderful time.

  16. A couple of years ago my family and I went to San Antonio for a family vacation. We spent over 14 hours down at the Riverwalk. I absolutely love San Antonio.

  17. Kansas City Speedway. Have been going there for several years to watch the Nascar race. Lots of fun!

  18. Our most memorable family vacation was when we traveled across the united states from fl to wa camping all along the way, visiting many historical sites and national parks.

  19. Most memorable family vacation was two weeks in California, we visited sites from San Fran up to the Redwoods in the north. That was 10 years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday.

  20. I had always wanted to see the Statute of Liberty, in 2009 my daughter and I went on a one day whirlwind tour of New York and were able to accomplish seeing the Statute of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building and the site of the Twin Towers. All of this in about 8 hours. Just goes to show what can be done in a day of sightseeing I loved New York. I also have been to San Antonio several times and we also always run out of time doing the sights. Somehow there is never enough time to see everything or do everything that you want on a vacation. Maybe someday!

  21. My most memorable family vacation was to Sweden in September 2008. The trip was family appropriate, but I traveled solo, flying into Gothenburg and traveling across the country to visit places where my family emigrated from to the United States and meeting many cousins for the very first time. I experienced a wonderful sense of my roots and where I had come from. I made lasting friendships with many family members. I eventually made my way to Stockholm where I ended my 16-day trip and adventure, departing back to the United States.

  22. Would love to win and visit the Alamo again. Our most memorable trip was a safari to the Little Governors Camp in the Masai Mara Kenya

  23. We took our children when they were 11 & 13 to Australia for our first trip abroad. They have now been to Australia from the Dallas 5 or 6 times. Was a great trip, so fun to travel with your children and let them experience the world. What a wonderful journey in life together!

  24. My most memorable family vacation was to Seattle with my husband back in June 2009. We spent it with my sister-in-law, exploring the city from a local’s point-of-view. We also spent time with my husband’s grandmother and celebrated my birthday!

  25. Took my son to San Antonia for Spring Break. He really enjoyed the River walk, The Alamo, & all the other sites that we visited. We also went to Sea World. Maybe through the assistance of this contest I can take my son back again. I would love to spend a week there instead of just the weekend that we stayed when he was in second grade.

  26. My most memorable family vacation was the one from which we just returned. our adventure included sprinting through O’hare with a preschooler, toddler and 2 carseats trying to make our connecting plane to Denver. Of course we had to change terminals and pass the big dinosaur which my 4YO wanted to stop and visit. It looked like a scene from The Amazing Race – toddler edition.

We arrived in Denver but our luggage didn’t. We checked into our airport hotel after a long shuttle ride. We had a clothes for the kids but we were out of diapers. All the extras were in the checked luggage. Lucky for us, we are cloth diaper users – I rinsed out the covers, dried them with the blow-dryer and stuffed them with hotel hand towels.

The next morning we rented our car and luggage arrived. We began our 5 hour adventure south to my childhood vacation spot, South Fork, CO. Ironically, this is also a stop along the Griswald’s Family “Vacation” route as well. We spent 9 glorious days fishing hiking, rafting, horseback riding, riding a train, visiting a bison farm and visiting an old mining town. These are all things I did as a kid and it was fun to see my children enjoying these things too. 3 of us got sick but that didn’t seem to stop the festivities.

Our return to Denver was the reverse, except this time we had a sick passenger. She made it the entire 5 hour drive without having to use the puke bag but she was miserable. But the next morning, she was feeling better. Thank goodness, because that Denver to Newark flight is LONG! We ventured through the security line all the while our 4YO was having a meltdown because he wanted to buy a cowboy hat in the gift shop. The kids were great on the plane except both of them needed to poop which required multiple trips to the airplane potty. I’m sure our fellow passengers were thrilled to hear the 2 YO proclaim, poop! poop! and my older one took his time and refused to leave the bathroom because “mama, i still have poop in my but and it hurts” We made it back to the east coast and we were exhausted. The kids have great stories but I’m still wondering how my parents did it every year with 6 kids and they DROVE! 18 hours from Texas.

  27. The last vacation I took was to San Antonio There is so many things to see and do with you kids or some alone time either way great get away. The river walk is my fav the tour boat is great, the zoo there was one of the best.

  28. Favorite travel moment was going to Ireland with my wife a few years ago. It was an amazing trip and that is when we fell in love with Ireland

  29. We just got home from our most memorable family vacation – to Alaska. We spent a week in nice cool weather surrounded by beautiful scenery. The 9-year-old and the 2-year-old had a great time. We didn’t have cell phone signals most of the time, and there was no TV in our cabin in Denali National Park. We had a great time. It was especially cool to get to meet Dad in the Anchorage airport at the beginning our our trip since he had been working in Alaska for a month. Seeing the 2-year-old run into his arms at the airport was priceless.

    • Typo noted, and changed accordingly. No worries. Good luck!

  30. My most memorable trip would be to Rock Island, TN. It was my husband and I first time going camping. Well, it was everyone in the group first time camping. We spent 5 days/4 nights sleeping outside, hiking, fishing, using nasty outdoor showers, playing in the river, sitting under a relaxing waterfall. I’m a city girl by heart, but I’ll have to admit, that was fun.

  31. By far the best family vacation-December 2006 over NYE to the Western Carribean with my family. My parents, sisters & I flew into Miami a day early and headed out Sunday morning to start our adventures to Jamaica, Cozumel, Grand Cayman. Every Island we did some type of activity (Grand Cayman-Sting Ray City, Jamaica-Swimming with the dolphins & climbing Dunn’s Rivers Fall, and Jamaica-renting jet ski’s). We learned about the islands & culture and took in as much as we could in the time we spent at each place! The memories that we shared/created, was the best part!

  32. My most memorable vacation was my husband and our first trip together. Our first trip was actually to San Antonio. We drove down and we had so many laughs. We had rented a car and car was a CHYRSLER seabreeze. This car seemed so low to the ground, but it did not bother us we were just happy to be together and alone. We stayed out so late and walking around and getting lost in San Antonio. Till this day we still talk about out first trip together six years ago. Love it!

  33. My most memorable vaca was when I was little my parents took me to Tennessee, to see the Smokey Mountains. While on this vaca we saw a black bear and her cubs. I will never forget that!! I would like to create memories like that for my family in San Antonio!! =)

  34. My most memorable vacation was the year my son graduated from High School. The kids thought we were just going to Nebraska to visit relatives, but we surprised them with a side trip to Colorado. It was fantastic! We crammed as much as possible into those few days and loved every minute of it!

  35. I have had so many memorable family vacations that I couldn’t even name just one. The most recent memorable one was landing in Belize a day before a massive hurricane was estimated to hit land possibly where we were. We had to evacuate the next day and spent a day traveling by bus up to inland Mexico. We ended up spending half the trip there before returning to Belize and exploring the country. My husband also had broken his arm in a bicycling accident the day before so we were dealing with that as well. It wasn’t exactly the best trip ever (but not horrible), but it was fairly memorable.

  39. We have been planning a trip to San Antonio for our 30th Anniversary. I like, rather love, you, signed up for the newsletter, bloged and am really looking foreward to a Western Vacation on the Venice of USA.

  40. Mexico – Small concrete huts with no electricity, small beat up local rental car, driving through the jungle while watching huge butterflies dart around the car, bathroom breaks consisted of the side of the road or small stores with grimy bathrooms with no toilet seat, eating local food, meeting the nicest people and sharing stories through broken English and little Spanish, seeing the jungle-top after climbing massive, crumbling ancient pyramids, finally arriving at the beach, breathtaking purple-blue water, even more breathtaking corral reef and tropical fish under the water, and best of all- sharing all of this with my husband on our honeymoon 6 years ago! We love to explore and meet the locals, no resorts for us!

  41. My most memorable family vacation was taking my 5 year old to Disney World last year. It was wonderful.

    PS

  42. San Antonio has always been my favorite Texas city. So much culture and history. Tons of great places to eat. Hotels are unique. The scenery is amazing. There is always something to do there. We even brought home an unexpected souvenir after staying in San Antonio for a weekend trip several years ago. Our son is now eight ;) Shanneman at gmail dot com

  44. My most memorable family vacation was at South Padre Island; all of the family was there so it was quite neat.

  45. My most memorable family vacation was when my family went to Los Angeles and we arrived at our hotel. We were going up to our room in the elevator with Kenny Rogers! My parents were huge fans! It was neat. mresende@sbcglobal.net

  46. My most memorable family vacation was taking our daughter to Disney World. It was so memorable because it was amazing to see everything through her eyes!

    sehudson2006@yahoo.com

  47. Most memorable vacation was a trip to Europe with my then 9 year old son, seeing it through his eyes was just the best! Now I am planning to take my daughter who will be 11 at the time that we will travel. I can’t wait.

  48. MY MOST MEMORABLE TRIP WAS AS A LITTLE GIRL I WOULD TRAVEL TO SEE MY FAMILY IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY IN CENTRAL AMERICA..I ALWAYS GIVE THANKS TO MY PARENTS WHO WERE BLESSED ENOUGH TO BRING ME TO THE US TO HAVE A BETTER LIFE..OFCOURSE I HAVE BEEN HERE ALL MY LIFE AND WHEN I DO GO VISIT TO SEE HOW THINGS ARE..I DO COUNT MY BLESSING!

  49. My most memorable family vacation was when my husband and I both got the flu on our Santa Fe, New Mexico trip. Twenty-four hours into the trip he began to get sick…at the time we thought it was the altitude. I took him to a local urgent care, and he was still sick a day and a half later. A day later I got so sick he had to take me to the hospital for an IV. And to top it all off, when we got back to the parking lot, our rental car had a flat tire! Memorable yes, fun, no! We still get queasy every time we think of New Mexico!

  50. Love love love branson mo..that was our best vacation ever!!

  51. My most memorable family vacation was actually in San Antonio. We visited El Mercado, the Riverwalk, La Villita, and the Alamo. We had a great time and it meant so much to me because it was right before I left home for college. It was great to get a little bit of Texas flavor before moving so far away.

  52. My most memorable trip is when my dad took me to Disney World. I loved it! I had such a great time!

  53. Just a trip with family as a 8 yr old…dacshound in tow….very special

  54. My most memorable vacation was in Orlando, FL. My fiance decided to fly me out there on my 25th Birthday. The moment we landed I wanted to move there. The state is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen. We stayed at a gorgeous resort that looked like its own subdivision because it was so huge. There were pools everywhere and waterfalls. We only spent 3 days/2 nights there. The first day was at the beach which coming from the gulf of mexico (texas) looked like heaven with its clear skies, blue waters, and dolphins. I found my first sand dollar and starfish (ALIVE)!!! I also got to ride a jet ski for the first time and took a tour out there. The people are so friendly! The next day we spent at disneyworld which you really need a week to experience the entire thing because it has so much to offer. I nearly choked back tears seeing the castle but totally lost it when the day came to an end and we got to see the parade of lights with the fireworks. It was the best vacation ever!!!

  55. Sadly, after being married for 13, we have yet to have a vacation with our kids. We have gone on short day trips to local attractions, but I don’t really count that as a vacation. It seems like everytime we have some money saved up, it is needed for something more urgent. Please help us give our 2 kids, ages 10 and 11 a normal vacation and my husband a much needed break from work. Thanks.

  56. My most memorable vacation was going to DisneyWorld with my daughter, her husband, and my two grandchildren. My grandchildren were 3 and 4 and they had such big eyes seeing the characters and such innocent enthusiasm. It was a joy just to walk the parks with them. I didn’t even care if I rode any rides. I just savored the moments with my babies! :) ♥

  57. I liked both sites on facebook as wendy wallach( step #1)
I follow both sites on Twitter as @madamerkf ( step #2)
I signed up for email updates ( step #3)

And my most memorable family vacation was a trip to Disneyworld ( New York to Orlando via Amtrak in the 70′s) because my brother ate rat posion he found on the train( yes, this is true) and my mother saved for I dont know how long in order for us to go!

  58. My most memorable vacation was going to Disney World with my fiance and my best friend. It’s a fun magical place to visit filled with delightful experience. All of the cute Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie and Donald puts a big big smile on us. Besides the attractions and the shops, walking around the park made us feel young. After this trip, I end up working for Disney 2 months later. Still miss the fun park.

  59. The most memorable family vacation was several years ago. We traveled through New Mexico and Arizona. Our boys were amazed by everything they saw! They were at a young, impressionable age, no griping about things like they do now that they have become teenagers!
