The Ultimate Buyer’s Guide for Phantom 4 Accessories
Seeing and experiencing undiscovered places is like a calling for intrepid travelers, and consumer drone technology is finally making it possible to capture views once only seen by those with wings.
But before you get those incredible bird’s eye views – you’ll need more than just the drone – there are a lot of DJI Phantom 4 accessories on the market that will help enhance your flight experience.
If you are ready to take your aerial photography and videography to new heights, I’ve got you covered.
Below, you will find my complete buyer’s guide to the Best DJI Phantom 4 Accessories. If you enjoy it, be sure to share it with your family, friends and fellow drone enthusiasts.
iPAD Mini 4
You’ve got your Phantom drone and are ready to soar, but wait first you need a mobile device to harness the drone’s features.
While your smartphone will work, the Apple iPad Mini 4 is truly the way to go.
With a 7.9-inch LED-backlit multi-touch display you can easily read the controls and maps you’ll need for flight.
In TapFly mode, you can tap the screen of the iPad and move the drone in a particular direction.
The iPad Mini 4 also boasts 2048 x 1536 resolution at 326 pixels per inch (hello clarity!) There is also built-in 4.2
The DJI Go app for the iPad, is free and provides a live video feed, full manual camera controls, plus access to all smart flight features.
Phantom 4 Propellers
Crashes happen. Even with the DJI Phantom 4 obstacle avoidance, you will at some point need extra propellers.
The Phantom 4 drone kit comes with an extra set in the box, but props are like batteries and memory cards. You can never have enough spare sets!
Grab yourself an extra pair or two of the DJI Phantom 4 Visionary Intelligence quick release propellers. This kit comes with 2 pairs of propellers: 2 clockwise and 2 counter-clockwise.
Keep in mind these are only compatible with the Phantom 4, so you can’t interchange them with other drones.
Phantom 4 Intelligent Flight Battery
Remember what I said about batteries? A stack of spares will definitely come in handy so be sure you always pack an extra Intelligent Flight Battery or two when you’re headed out to fly.
The 15.2V LiPo battery is specifically designed for the Phantom 4, so you know you’ll be getting optimal battery performance.
The battery weighs 1.15 pounds, and has built-in sensors and LEDs that give you critical status feedback so you know the remaining power of you battery in real-time.
When it comes to accessories for the Phantom 4, this is one of the most important by far.
Never run out of juice again. Pick one or two of these up right now.
Phantom 4 Multiple Battery Charging Hub
Managing your batteries on the road is really important. An intelligent battery charging hub like this will help you maximize your flight time without causing permanent damage to your batteries.
This DJI Phantom 4 battery charging hub can charge up to 3 Intelligent Flight Batteries at the same time.
The storage mode feature allows the charging hub to keep the flight batteries at 50% charge, which is optimal for battery storage.
Helpful tip: Do not drain your drone batteries and then store them – batteries need some juice to keep their charging memory working.
Phantom 4 Portable Car Charger Kit
An additional charging device is always nice to have and I recommend outfitting your DJI Phantom 4 Drone kit with the portable car charger.
It can be used to charge the Intelligent Flight batteries or the remote controller.
Because it uses a car’s cigarette lighter (the ubiquitous 12 volt receptacle) port it has low-voltage and overheating protection.
Think Tank Airport Helipak
Let’s talk about the best way to store your drone, shall we?
Many consumer drones on the market, like the DJI Phantom Series, are lightweight and small enough to fit in specialized backpacks so transporting your drone is easy and safe.
The Think Tank Airport Helipak is a solid example of a bag designed specifically for your aerial companion and it’s one of the most highly recommended Phantom 4 Accessories on the market.
With its versatile soft case features and rearrangeable, custom dividers you know everything will have its place and your investment will be protected on those long journeys to far-flung destinations.
The Helipak drone backpack fits a laptop up to 15”, a GroPro camera and pretty much anything else you might need. And yes, it is designed to comply with carry-on requirements of most airlines.
Lowepro Drone Guard Backpack
Another solid choice for safely and comfortably traveling with your DJI Phantom 4 Drone is the LowePro Drone Guard Backpack.
This bag is all about structure – from its armored, FormShell design to its customizable interior for a secure gear fit.
Additional features include SlipLock attachment loops on the straps, a protective CradleFit tablet pocket, side zippered pockets and a FormShell top zippered pocket for must-haves like sunglasses, headphones, and your mobile phone.
If you are wondering if the LowePro has the space you need, consider this – it was designed by drone junkies, for drone junkies.

Want your beautify your shots to look like a pro was behind the remote? If so, consider adding the PolarPro 6-pack professional filters to your accessory kit.
These filters have been designed specifically for aerial filming, allowing you to get cinema quality video and images in almost any light conditions.
Each filter has a precision threaded aluminum frame for smooth installation on the DJI Phantom 4.
Helpful tip: Don’t forget to take the stock filter off first!
PolarPro Lens Cover and Gimbal Lock
Another smart and easy way to protect your DJI Phantom 4 is with a PolarPro Lens Cover and Gimbal Lock.
The lens covers easily push onto the gimbal and camera giving your drone the protection it needs during traveling.
This protective cover is also designed to work with the PolarPro filters or the stock UV filters, so no extra filter-fussing will be necessary.
Lexar 633X MicroSDHC Card
As an avid collector of memory cards my motto is just like batteries: You can never have too many, so stock up on the Lexas 633x 32GB MicroSDCH cards.
These cards are specifically designed for high performance and make it easy to quickly capture playback.
You can also effortlessly transfer 1080p full-HD, 3d and 4K video.
To sweeten the deal even more these cards comes with a USB 3.0 dongle reader for high-speed file transfers.
Motor Guard Caps for the DJI Phantom 4
To help protect the motors on your DJI Phantom 4 Drone I highly recommend these Shalouman Silica Gel caps.
The pack coms with four, white, silica gel caps made specifically for the DJI Phantom 4, so you know it will fit.
Helpful tip: Always use replace these caps when the drone is not in use to ensure you never accidentally bang or dent the motors on your Phantom 4.
Phantom 4 Antenna Range Extenders
Nobody wants to fly their DJI Phantom 4 Drone to the point of no return.
In order to avoid any signal loss when flying your Phantom 4, you should seriously consider investing in a pair of the AerialTek Signal Booster and Range Extenders.
Built with ease of use in mind, it is designed to slide on and off – no tools or extra modifications are required. And here’s the kicker – the booster is foldable so it is incredibly durable and convenient for traveling.
With a price tag of $20-25, these are hands down one of my favorite Phantom 4 Accessories.
Remote Control Protective Case With Directional Guides
So you’ve gotten that extra oomph you need to boost your signal, now how about a little extra protection for your DJI Phantom 4’s remote control?
The Tozo RC case is a great option for both beginners and those who would like to add some durability to their kit.
It’s made from top-grade silicone. It is dust-proof, slide-proof and will fit the DJI Phantom 4 remote perfectly.
Helpful tip: This Phantom 4 remote cover is a great gift idea for beginner pilots!
Fly Safe – Know Before You Go!
Not all countries and certainly not all cities are drone friendly and I recommend knowing the current rules and regulations regarding flying before you find yourself in hot water with the law.
That perfect bird’s eye view may be worth a thousand words, but knowing when and where you can safely and legally fly is extremely important.
Here are some great drone resources (info, courses, laws & regulations and more):
- UAVCoach – The latest up to date information about drones, regulations, schooling and more. Great resource surrounded by a pretty sizable and passionate community of drone enthusiasts. They’ve also got a list of drone laws (by country) that you might want to check out before you take off on your next trip.
- The Drone Info has a good list of regulations broken down by specific countries. Keep in mind drone regulations change like wind patterns so it is best to be vigilant about checking and re-checking current regulations.
- FAA.GOV – The Federal Aviation Administrations official website for flying in the United States of America.
- EASA – The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) official website covers the latest news and regulations for unmanned aircrafts (drones) and is a resource you should keep handy when traveling within Europe.
And for all you DJI fans out there, check out their site for a list of No Fly Zones (NFZ) and an instructional video with country by country information.
