Frequently Asked Questions

General Info

1. Is there a minimum or maximum group size?

The Experience Egypt Tour has a max capacity of 20 guests. The Experience Greece Tour is capped at 14 guests due to the size of the hotels and limited availability of rooms on the Greek islands. We generally need a minimum of 15 guests for Egypt and 12 guests for Greece in order to operate the tours.

2. Do the tours include international airfare?

No. International flights are not included in any of our tours unless specified otherwise.

3. Is it possible to extend a tour?

Yes, absolutely! We would be more than happy to assist you in extending your tour whether it be on the front side or the back side of your reservation. We can help with everything from accommodations to transportation, activities, experiences and so much more. Questions? Ask us.

4. How far in advance do you recommend booking a tour?

Fun fact: The 2023 PTM Experience Greece Tour sold out in less than 4 hours, solely based on word of mouth! In other words, we highly recommend reserving your spot as soon as possible in order to avoid missing out!

5. What if I have dietary restrictions?

We always do our absolute best to accommodate those with dietary restrictions. We have had plenty of vegetarian and vegans on our tours over the years so as long as we know in advance of your arrival, we’ll do our best to make sure we find solutions and contact restaurants in advance if necessary.

6. Should I pack snacks for the trip?

We make sure to give everyone a chance to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day. That said, we always recommend packing your day pack with some of your favorite snacks just in case you get hungry along the way. Having extra snacks is never a bad idea. If you don’t eat them. We will! :-)

7. Is it possible for solo travelers to book a single room?

All of our tours are based on double occupancy. That said, we understand that some people travel solo so we do allow single travelers to join us on tour. If for some reason you can’t find anyone to share a room with, we will happily accommodate you as best as we can.

Please note: All guests traveling solo will be charged a single supplement fee ($199) which is added to the final cost of the tour.

Health & Safety

1. Do I need to get travel insurance if I want to travel with PTM Tours?

Yes. PTM Tours requires all guests have proper travel insurance coverage prior to joining us on tour. We recommend comparing rates between World Nomads and Travelex Insurance.

2. Do I need to be vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to join a tour?

No. PTM Tours does not require guests to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

3. What happens if I get sick before the tour?

Unfortunately, all tour payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. No credits, date changes or refunds will be given in the event that you decide to cancel your tour for any reason including feeling ill or unwell.

Travel Planning

1. What is the best website to use when searching for flights?

We recommend comparing rates between Skyscanner and Google Flights and booking directly through the airline’s official website when possible.

2. Can you help me arrange my visa for travel?

While we cannot assist you with arranging your visa, we can point you in the direction of the official government websites you will need in order to secure your visa.

3. What should I pack for the tour?

We always recommend packing light and using layers when possible. Please note that the culture and dress code in Egypt will likely require you to cover up a little more than you’re used to (chest, shoulders, below the knees). In Greece, virtually anything goes. We will provide you with ideas for things to pack once the tour gets closer.

4. What type of luggage is best for PTM Tours?

Most of our guests travel with one checked luggage and one small carry-on bag. We also recommend bringing a day pack that you can wear when you’re out and about during the day. Please note that you will be responsible for handling your luggage during the tour and this sometimes requires carrying luggage on and off ferries as well as up and down stairs. Pack light, pack right.

5. How much money do I need to bring for the tour?

Unfortunately, there is no magic number when it comes to the amount of money you may or may not spend during the tour. We recommend setting some money aside and budgeting for meals and souvenirs. Other than that, all accommodation and transportation is included in the tour price.

6. Where do I leave my passport when we’re on tour?

We highly recommend leaving your passport and valuables behind in the hotel room during the day while we’re out exploring. Store a copy of your passport in your wallet in case for ID purposes and make sure to keep a physical copy of your ID on you at all times.

Payments & Refunds

1. What are the policies for payments and refunds?

Unfortunately, all tour payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. No credits, date changes or refunds will be given in the event that you decide to cancel your tour for any reason including feeling unwell. As much as we would love to offer refunds to our guests, we simply cannot due to the fact that we have to pre-book all of the accommodations, transportation and guides in advance.

2. Is it possible to switch to another tour after making a deposit?

Generally speaking, we are usually unable to allow changes to tours and/or dates once a deposit has been made. That said, if you do decide that you want to switch to another tour, we will consider it and do our best to see if we can work something out for you.

3. Do you offer flexible payment plans?

We offer flexible payment plans for those who are unable to pay for the full tour in advance. We simply ask for a $500 deposit to secure your spot on the tour and then we will ask for three equal payments until the tour has been paid in full. For example, if the tour cost is $2000, the deposit would be $500 and then you will be asked to make three monthly payments of $500.
