Our stay at Harris Beach State Park was much more pleasant that the stay at Humbug the night before. As usual we woke up, packed up and hit the road early.
Before we knew it we had arrived the border of Oregon and California. We were so excited to start a brand new state and the last state of our journey.
As soon as we stopped at the Welcome to California sign, we spotted the same group of high schoolers that we had ran into a few days ago on the road. We stopped to chat with them for a few and had them take a photo of us in front of the sign.
Today was a short 30 mile day for us as we were going to set up shop in Crescent City, CA for the next two nights.
Once we arrived in Crescent City we headed straight for a diner where we sat down and ate lunch. Our next dilemma was to find a place to stay in the area. We knew we would be taking a rest day tomorrow so we wanted to find a cheap motel where we could post up for the next two nights.
After stopping into a few places along the way we ended up calling the local Super 8. They gave us a deal we couldn’t pass up so we headed over and unloaded all of our gear for the night.
It’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow and my knee needs a rest so we’ll be taking a day off here in Crescent City.
